Leicestershire Handmade Cheese
David and Jo Clarke are hand-making the UK's only traditional cloth-bound farmhouse Red Leicester cheese made on a farm actually in Leicestershire. In doing so, they are continuing a tradition of cheesemaking started at Sparkenhoe farm in 1740.
This quality cheese, made from their pedigree Holstein Friesian herd's milk, is unpasturised and has the open texture and 'nutty' taste of classic Red Leicester cheese. It's a sure winner!
They are also producing a fresh cream cheese named 1485 after the date of the Battle of Bosworth, which was fought nearby. This zesty cheese is available in plain, garlic, chilli or pepper flavours.
For stockists see their web-site at www.leicestershirecheese.co.uk.
